What do you mean who the hell are ya? Do you seriously talk to all the members you dont know like that before you even know their names? And Joe, it is Will. I just decided to join this site because Chris, Eddie, and Paul are in here and I happen to love car communities.

Thanks guys, and girls. Wusup Chris? Joe, Big Sexy took a complete 540. At first, I was gonna swap over to the black t-top body(which is now for sale), and junk the original body, but then I got a bit of nostalgia when I ran into her new clothes. I am now working on a 1979 Monte Carlo (think of the movie car from training day only really sun faded burgundy and no hydraulics). My father had one when we were kids and I helped him build that one with a 403. She only has 56,000 on the body and with exception to the paint, the only blemish is where some leaves called home in the cowl area and a little on the roof. So now, I plan on bolting all of Big Sexy's attitude under her hood. She is a full frame, so she wont twist like the Camaro did, but she weighs about 800lbs less than the Camaro, so I may be pricing wheelie bars shortly. I haven't yet found myself a tuner car per-say, but I figure anything you tinker with is technically a tuner in some fashion. But it should count, as I am still planning on pissing her off further by some sort of forced induction, be it turbo or super. The only questions I have to answer for myself is where my wallet stands and whether I want to have the eye-candy out the hood Twisted Evil or the sleeper that makes that nice blow-off sound. Twisted Evil

sounds like youve been pretty busy. id say put a fresh set of paint and leave it at that. Im all for the sleeper status as you know already lol. Id say go with a procharger. Im sure you can haul that thing in the 800+ range if your willing to dump the greens

Ya, the only thing that has me thinking about turbos is really the fact that these things are hard as hell to find, and if I ever wanted to revert back to n/a, the hood price might make me wake up with a bleeding butt-hole (metaphorically of coarse). But, I have found a few aftermarket hoods that I would have to include in the price of the charger, because lets face it, the look isn't complete without the bird-catcher popping out the hood with the triple butterflies. As far as the 800hp, with what I am starting at with my current setup, I think that may be low-shooting to the tune of 200hp. I have been quoted by Weiand to be able to break the 1,000hp threshold!!!! The same also "appears" to be true with turbo's. Turbo is appealing because I can put an MBC and keep it timid for the streets, or crank it up and piss her off for the un-suspecting victims at the red lights or the christmas trees.

i hear ya man, me too. its going to take about 4 thousand to build the volkswagen. but i was quoted 600+ to the wheels when im done playing with her. granted on a FWD vehicle it will be tough to keep traction so im thinking qualife LSD and anti lag WOT box for traction

Same as you Jimmy, paycheck to paycheck, doing the family thing. Trying to help people get on their feet. Chris, I should be heading there within a few months if all goes right. Just have to work out the vacation time and financials. I know its been a bit since I have been there but the financials have been killing me a little on the travel thing.

Yeah, she is definitly not shy at the pipes, even with a 50 state legal exhaust system. There is no "Loud for no reason, straight pipe" sound to this. When she is fired, even through a cat and muffler, you can still feel your testosterone level rise and your biceps flex. I like the Avenger you got. Anything in the works for that? If you need anything major while I am visiting, let me know. I love getting greasy.

What do you mean not running? No fuel, no fire, timing dwell? Obviously look for the stupid stuff first like fuel and fire. Well, very first, make sure you have enough power in the battery to actually get it to fire(boost it) Just because she cranks, dont mean she will fire, 42OA's crank easy but the ECU still needs to read proper voltage and signal to charge the coil, so it can still crank without firing. Then check fuel pressure, just because you are getting fuel doesnt mean you are getting enough, if low, start with the filter, FPR, then pump. Check engine compression and leak-down for internal problems. If that isn't it, check the connections on the cam and crank position sensors, coil, and if you have a MAP and MAF, check those, and replace if needed. A lot of times there is just the slightest buildup on these pins that will cease adequate fire. Some cleaning with WD-40 and sealing the rubber with dielectric grease will stop them from ever getting anymore buildup. If she still wont fire after that, then check timing by pulling the cover and putting it at TDC, compression stroke. Aside from that, it could be a fusable link, ECU, or torn wire. That is pretty much all that will keep it from running.

Haha... Well, my car don't run is kinda vague... So I simply answered all the immediate possibilities, in the order that I would look. Cheap to expensive. I only went in depth because it would be my luck that the one thing I forget to mention would be the one thing wrong with it hahaha.

We seem to think its the timing. Its not getting any spark, but getting plenty of fuel. And every time we crank it, its always boosted on my battery.

Have you guys checked the cam and crank sensors? If they are not sending signal then you wont get any spark. Pretty much the same story if the cams aren't spinning. If you pull the timing cover and the cams are spinning and you still do not get spark, then it is the sensor. Just trying to save him time and money.

We already replaced both sensors. Tried 3 different coils. New wires and plugs. Its a fresh rebuild so we know its not anything internal.

So, fresh rebuild, has fuel, no spark... This may sound stupid, but did you check all fuses and relays? Something may have popped upon being re-introduced to power. Aside from that, fusible links in the wires(which are an absolute bitch to find most times), re-check every connection, and double check the main hook-up for the ECM unless you never unhooked that. Timing alone will not cause a loss of spark. The only time I would say to go for timing on a fresh rebuild unless you do not trust the man who timed it in the first place or if it were sparking and still sounding like a hollow dwell. But no spark at all is something all together different on those motors. How thorough of a rebuild was it? If you had the crank out, did you forget to put in or marr the reluctor ring? Is the motor out of a different year, make, model, or even an automatic? If so then the reluctors are a bit different on a couple years options and you may need to check the ECU numbers on the one it came out of as it may be different and therefore yours cannot register the signal from the sensors due to it going to the wrong pin, which would cause no signal to the coil for it to fire off. But all of this is just me speculating, I have no idea what you are looking at, so all I can do is list the different possibilities for you. If she still isnt going when I go there next, I will get it going for you guys.

LMAO. Chris, it's not about winning hahaha. I like that car and want to see her going again. Besides, if I can help to narrow it down for him, then I am here. I wish I were closer so I could physically help, but for now, this is the best way for me to help him get her going. But, if you give up on it Lach, I would be more than happy to join the DSM owners around income tax time HAHAHA.

Yeah Jimmy, the more I talk to them, the more it is starting to sound liike they hit the DSM lottery and got one of the only compatibility issue 420A's have. The only way around it is ripping them both apart and swapping out the reluctor/stator rings, and every sensor to what came out of the car so they are compatible with each other. Not saying this is 100%, but it is what this sounds like to me. If I remember right, Eddie had the same issue with it when he put it in Audrie's car. It would run with the wiring harness and ECU from the car it came with, but not with the one that came in the car.

Oh ok Joe, I thought you were talking about the one you bought for $700 for Cait. I heard that was an auto... Which one are you offering and pics. I may go that high for one I can drive home giving it is a standard and I am not paying more than what you did, never mind over double lol.

Understood, but irrelivant to me. I am looking to work on mine from scratch. Most of what is under the hood of whatever I get is going to be discarded by way of selling or dumpstering anyways. That is why I do not own one yet, because I am going to get rid of almost everything that people use for leverage as to why their car is worth so much. Not trying to be an ass, but that is my reasoning. Now, if he could provide reciepts for everything that adds up to that and it would be parts I would actually re-use, then I am willing to meet his price. But then again, this is why I usually dont do business with people I speak with regularly, because I am an ass to deal with who doesnt pay for extras lol. Well that and that $2000 for a car that doesnt even come close to booking for that even in prestine condition on top of the fact that he only paid $700 for. Like I said, I dont want one bad enough to blow $2000 on what is mainly going to be discarded.
