Re: 96 Honda integra ls
just be careful with turbo if you decide on that. too much boost and your gonna need to sleeve the block. otherwise kiss your engine bye bye

Re: 96 Honda integra ls
yeah like i was saying honda motor con rods snap really easy boosting a dd is kinda scary lol with honda motor and dont super charger over heat the shit out of your motor have to run water meth kit i believe
Re: 96 Honda integra ls
there are downfalls to every forced induction option.
turbo:
obviously the main thing is turbo lag with bigger turbos. Enough custom work, but they have kits for that. You can run a safe amount of boost (6-7) psi without having to upgrade your rods or sleeve your block. But anything above that, your asking for trouble with a stock motor. And you need to have a good tuning software to control everything, including upgrades to your fuel system.
Supercharged:
Supercharging is a bit easier on the engine. No lag whatsoever. When you hit the gas, you get boost, no questions asked. Not many supporting mods need to be done to hold a supercharger. And you can run a highly PSI than turbo. You will get some overheating, but a cooler thermostat usually fixes it. And i would recomend wiring one fan to a switch just in case you get too hot. Invest in a FPR, and your good to go. And all you need for more boost is a smaller pulley.
Either way you got some work ahead of you. My personal favorite for Honda engines is Supercharging. Ive seen them turboed, and supercharged. If you need help with whatever you decide, im more than happy to help.
EDIT:
i forgot to mention that with a supercharger you dont really NEED a tuning software. But its good to have one either way you go

Re: 96 Honda integra ls
Agree'd....
Here's a write up I made on another forum a while back about Turbo vs SuperCharger....
1st off you can't Super Charge most 4cy cars just because of the engine set up... (I know there are allot of cars you can but most you can't.) but you can turbo just about anything. So turbo may be your only option.
Super Charger Advantages:
1. NO TURBO LAG.. because they are belt driven they are producing some sort of pressure all the time.
2. There is less heat involved, so you usually don't require an external cooling system such as an intercooler.
3. Installation... if there is a super charger for your car, most likely your going to buy it in a kit that includes everything you need, from belts, to injectors, to ecu tune.
Regardless, some one who makes a hell of allot more money than you do, took the time to map it out, unlike a universal turbo kit you have to guess and pray it works.
Advantages to Turbo:
1. PHHHHSSSSSS... there is no sound better than a BOV going off...
2. Cost... Most turbo kits are expensive off the start, but if your turbo blows, your just replacing that one component. not an expensive super charger unit.
3. Up gradable, not getting enough boost... you can usually trade out a part here and there to get the #'s you want easily.
4. Fuel economy, if you want to take it easy on your wallet, you can drive a turbo at low RPM's and not use as much gas.
5. With the right parts, you can turbo anything... 4cy 6cy 8cy even quad turbo a 16cy like VW did... lol
6. Did I mention the PHHHSSSSSS!!!! lol...
The only down side to a turbo system is there are a lot of fail points, waste gates, boost controllers, turbo's, manifolds, Inter Cooler, and their piping, BOV, oil/coolant lines ect... oh and having the room to put all this shit under your hood...
The rule of thumb I was brought up with was, if you can Super Charge it... Do it.
Re: 96 Honda integra ls
on the topic of supercharging, check into the shaft driven setups. and yes, jacson racing made super chargers for the D and B series. there were sepparate kits made for the b18b, and the b18c LS/GSR. you can mate a stock ls flange to the gsr setup if the need be, with a welder and patience. i owned the single cam setup mentioned at the top of this thread.
PRO opinion, go with vortech. fuck jackson racing.
YES, you need a tune for your honda if you supercharge it.
its no different from tuning a turbo setup. boost is boost, wether its instant/constant or not. i had my single cam setup tuned. invest in a p28.
on the topic of the integra itself, love the paint, love the hood, love the bumper, LOSE the wing. you have a FWD car. the wing holds no value to your setup. get canards for the front bumper if you want effective down force. other than that, keep up the good work and dont be afraid to ASK ASK ASK. thats the only way to learn.

Re: 96 Honda integra ls
BIG KUDOS on the de-ricing. Those big wings on the tiny cars are about as useful as a doorknob on a revolving door, and make as much sense as trying to slam a revolving door too.
